The Standard is launching a Hotel Tonight competitor with 20 other hotels – The app will try to highlight experience over price
Following in the footsteps of Hotel Tonight, Standard International, owner of the Standard hotels, is unveiling an app that will allow customers to book last-minute rooms at its hotels and others at the “lowest available price” on the same day as their stay. The app is called One Night, and at launch will include about two dozen hotels in New York City and Los Angeles. In coming months, it plans to expand to a curated group of hotels in five other cities, including San Francisco and Chicago.

World weeps for hotel guest who says ‘the gays’ made him uncomfortable
You know when someone says ‘I’m not homophobic, but…’, something pretty damn homophobic is about to follow. This Tripadvisor review for Hotel Neptuno in Gran Canaria did not disappoint. The reviewer, a man known only as MooSmith21, gave the hotel a decent score of 4/5. He said that he and his girlfriend were ‘made to feel very welcome by the staff’, and that ‘the food was a highlight’.
