Starwood plans big expansion in NY State

Starwood

Starwood will significantly expand its portfolio of Specialty Select brands in New York State in the next three years, with the bulk of the growth taking place in the New York City metropolitan area. Starwood will grow its portfolio in New York from 12 to 22 hotels by the end of 2018 across its Aloft, Element and Four Points brands – an increase of more than 80 percent.
“As Starwood’s global pipeline driver, Aloft, Element and Four Points have never been stronger, and are rapidly expanding across New York, due to the success of the brands’ distinct lifestyle positioning and widespread appeal among today’s international traveller,” said Brian McGuinness, global brand leader, Specialty Select Brands.
“With our tech-forward mind-set and innovative programming – a sweet spot in the category – our brands have re-energised the mid-market space and created an unprecedented level of buzz in the development community.”
As a group, Starwood’s Specialty Select brands reached well over 300 hotels worldwide last year. Leading Starwood’s global pipeline growth, Four Points crossed the 200th milestone worldwide, winning over travellers and hotel developers with its approachable design, stylish comfort and flexible development options.
Topping 100 hotels worldwide in 2015, Aloft appeals to the “hyper-connected global traveller with its distinctive design aesthetic and live music scene”.
On track to more than double its global portfolio in the next three years, Element Hotels are designed to “reimagine the extended stay experience and promote a life in balance with its clean, modern design and sustainable offerings”.
