Top French chef London-bound

London – 6 December 2016
One of the world’s leading chefs will open her first restaurant in London next month, bringing modern French food to the City financial district, Bloomberg reported. La Dame de Pic at Four Seasons Hotel London at Ten Trinity Square will open January 26, featuring the cuisine of Anne-Sophie Pic. She is the only woman to hold three Michelin stars at a restaurant in France: Anne-Sophie Pic, in Valence. She has two more stars for Anne-Sophie Pic, in Lausanne, Switzerland, and a sixth for Le Dame de Pic in Paris.

Her accolades include being named Veuve Clicquot World’s Best Female Chef.

“I really want to do well in London because I want people to experience my cuisine, and, obviously, to like it,” she said.

The new hotel, near the Thames river and the Tower of London, is housed in the onetime headquarters of the Port of London Authority where there was a reception for the inaugural meeting of the General Assembly of the United Nations in 1946.

Pic’s grandfather and father held three Michelin stars at Valence, but she initially decided not to be a chef. She preferred to work the front of house, even though her father had taught her to cook. When the restaurant lost its third star after her father’s death, she went into the kitchen and won it back.
