The weather is great in the Sunshine State: Tourism booms in California. The demand for new hotels is increasing. In the US state of California alone, there are currently 133 new top hotels with 27,300 rooms under construction, as stated by Tophotelprojects. A further ten thousand guest rooms could be built within the next three years.
In Los Angeles there are presently 20 new high-class hotels being built, e.g. the JW Marriott at L.A. Live (755 rooms, planned opening Q1/ 2019) and the Hotel Indigo Metropolis (250 rooms, official opening Q1/ 2017). In San Francisco there are currently 13 new hotels emerging, e.g. the Moxy (75 rooms, opening Q2/ 2018) and another Yotel (203 rooms, opening Q1/ 2017). A new 120 room hotel is under development in Pleasanton. Aloft plans a “robot hotel”, where Android “Botlr” are running errands; opening is planned for Q1/ 2018.
However, in the United States of America there are nine times more hotels emerging: In total, just above 1,100 with 238,800 rooms. In Las Vegas there are six new top resorts being built – altogether 11,000 rooms. But the “capital” of hotel construction is still New York City. Within the next years around 61 new upper category hotels (15,900 rooms) will open in New York.
