Timbers resorts appoints Edward Shapard as new managing director of hospitality

Carbondale, Colorado – 11 April 2017 –
Private boutique resorts operator Timbers Resorts has appointed Edward Shapard as Managing Director of Hospitality, responsible for ensuring Timbers Resorts’ high standards and well-regarded service culture are upheld across the company’s growing portfolio of properties. Edward has nearly two decades of hospitality experience in the Americas and Asia, and will bring an extensive background that spans all aspects of resort operations to his new role at Timbers Resorts.

Edward joins Timbers Resorts from The St. Regis, Deer Valley where he has been General Manager since 2013. He oversaw all operations at the 177-room resort and 24 residences, restaurant, bar, spa, and outdoor venues, and cultivated a strong relationship with Deer Valley Resort, consistently rated the top ski resort in North America. Edward began his career at the Orchid Mauna Lani, Hawaii and served in managerial positions with Starwood Hotels’ Westin and Sheraton Brands in Stamford, Connecticut and New Orleans. He then moved into management positions with Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group in New York, Hong Kong and Bermuda.

Edward is joining Timbers Resorts during an exciting time for the company. The team recently announced its expansion into one of the country’s most sought-after designations, Kiawah Island, South Carolina, where they will develop the island’s first private residence club known as Timbers Kiawah – Ocean Club & Residences. Timbers Resorts also recently announced the launch of sales for Timbers Kaua’i – Ocean Club & Residences at Hokuala, an oceanfront development in south Kaua’i in Hawaii.

Edward graduated cum laude from Tennessee State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Hotel and Restaurant Administration. In addition, he gained an MBA from RMIT (Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology), Australia through Mandarin Oriental’s MBA Program.
