Airbnb changed its general terms and conditions and developed thereby to the highly professional booking channel for commercial offerers further. Most important innovations are rules to so-called co-hosts, i.e. other members of the community the administration of the advertisements (offers) left, for a freely negotiated fee. These co-hosts should be natural persons, but may also be companies with the consent of Airbnb. This opens the way for marketing and sales service providers to discontinue their beds at Airbnb.
For a longer time, market observers expect a change in the network launched as a couchsurfing portal to become the leading booking provider for all overnight stays. At Booking (Priceline Group) and Accor Hotels, this strategy was recognized at an early stage, and massively private villas and apartments were added to the existing hotel offer.
Airbnb wants to participate in the business with co-hosts: The payment of the service fees is made via the own system. This means in the general terms and conditions: “This is deducted directly from the advertisement price after deduction of the respective host fee. In addition, the host may commission the co-host to provide certain one-off services in connection with his advertisement. Hosts can pay co-hosts for one-time services and other expenses through the Mediation Center.”
