Thomas Cook to take over 42 percent from club resorts Aldiana

Frankfurt, Germany – 26 September 2017 –
Thomas Cook has obtained a 42 percent stake in the club provider Aldiana, making it the seventh hotel brand to complement Thomas Cook Hotels & Resorts. Using its current eight club facilities in Spain, Greece, Cyprus, Tunisia and Austria, Aldiana is expanding the portfolio of Thomas Cook’s own resort brands to 190 hotels and resorts in 17 countries. Another four new Aldiana openings are intended for 2019.

Thomas Cook’s investment in club supplier Aldiana is part of a strategic alliance between Thomas Cook and the Swiss investment company LMEY Investments, which Aldiana has possessed since February 2016.

This strategic alliance will guarantee the future expansion of Aldiana’s company. We can continue to grow through new club facilities and will further increase the number of Aldiana guests over the upcoming few years through close cooperation in earnings,”says Aldiana CEO Max-Peter Droll.

The evolution of a strong portfolio of resorts owned by the Group’s hotel brands is among the most important pillars of the Thomas Cook Group’s growth strategy. Along with Aldiana, the Thomas Cook brand portfolio currently includes Sentido Hotels & Resorts, Sunwing Family Resorts, Sunprime – the newest for adults-only hotels, the family-oriented Sun Connect Resorts, Smartline – a contemporary and fashionable budget hotel brand – and the high quality Casa Cook resort brand established in 2016.
