MasterCard and Starwood Hotels and Resorts Partner to Offer U.S. Travelers Added Benefits to Destinations Across Latin America

PURCHASE, N.Y., July 22 /PRNewswire/ — MasterCard Worldwide and Starwood Hotels & Resorts – one of the world’s leading hotel and leisure companies – today announced a multi-year strategic partnership to provide MasterCard cardholders with increased benefits and exclusive offers when they visit Mexico and destinations throughout Latin America.

For the summer vacation season, MasterCard cardholders have two unique opportunities to save when they book a stay at any of more than 40 Starwood Hotels & Resorts properties across Latin America. Between now and September 30, 2009, cardholders can receive one night free when they purchase two nights or receive 25% off on stays of 5 nights or more when they pay with a MasterCard card.

According to data from the American Society of Travel Agents, cities in Latin America continue to be some of the most popular destinations for U.S. summer vacationers traveling abroad this year. Cancun, Mexico is once again the fourth most popular summer destination abroad, behind only London, Rome and Paris. Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic are also among the top ten destinations outside the U.S. for American vacationers.
