For curvy brides-to-be, the key to finding a dress is knowing what suits their shape.
That’s according to fashion journalist Felicity Landrock, writing for youandyourwedding.co.uk. She explained how curvaceous women could turn on their inner Jessica Rabbit – provided they know what style of dress would work best for their figure.
Although many brides make their mind up on early on the big bits – like the dress and the wedding reception venue – there are some guidelines they should stick to when it comes to the former.
Landrock’s rule of thumb for curvy brides is to opt for a dress which has a wide open neckline that can open up a bride’s face and show off a little décolletage without being too busty. Fit-and-flare gowns – which have a mermaid-like silhouette – will highlight a curvy woman’s best assets, whilst fitted tops and full-skirts work for those shunning the traditional dress.
Dress don’ts include Empire line dresses – which can make a bride look top-heavy – or anything lacking structure, as this can leave a shapeless look. Brides should also invest in a good pair of supporting pants to help the overall look.
Hellomagazine.com, meanwhile, has its own advice for curvy brides, simply ‘if you’re lucky enough to be blessed with curves, make sure you flaunt them.’
As with the dress, there are typically guidelines most brides follow in other aspects of the day too, such as the decor at the reception venue. Braidengideon.wordpress.com revealed that centrepieces, for example, should be kept simply – as they have to bet set up on the morning of the wedding – and that it’s worth considering centrepieces that can double as favours.
