Conservative MP and Minister for Tourism & Heritage John Penrose has renewed his support of the ‘Britain for Events’ campaign.
Cited by citmagazine.com, Mr Penrose labelled ‘Britain for Events a “wonderful” example of how two parties can work together “to benefit industries that bring economic prosperity to the UK.”
He went on to state: “As a supporter of the Britain for Events campaign I would also like to pass on my support for this important industry, both in representing the UK in 2012 and its role in delivering the legacy of the games in 2013 and beyond.”
‘Britain for Events’ aims to raise the profile for event spaces, planners and exhibitioners around the UK with London 2012 fast approaching. Mr Penrose has previously spoke highly of the campaign and was even present at last year’s International Confex – becoming the first senior politician ever to attend the networking event.
Michael Hirst, chairman of the Business Visits & Events Partnership – one of many official supporters of ‘Britain for Events and the latest GREAT advertising campaign – said that due to Mr Penrose’s knowledge in the events sector, his backing is crucial.
Talking to venues.org.uk, Mr Hirst acknowledged the continued commitment demonstrated by the MP, along with Mr Penrose’s concerted effort to “underline the importance of the industry at the highest levels of government.”
