How will public transport be affected today?
- The DLR, Central, Jubilee and Piccadilly lines will be very busy throughout the day.
- The busiest times across the network will be 7.30-10am and 4-8pm. Late evening, from 9pm to close, is expected to be busier than usual. Consider retiming your journey to avoid the busiest times.
- The Jubilee and Metropolitan lines will be exceptionally busy from 5pm to 7.30pm between central London and Wembley.
- Baker Street, King?s Cross and Green Park stations are expected to be very busy in the evening peak with spectators going to Wembley. If possible avoid these lines and stations at busy times.
- Embankment station is expected to be very busy throughout the day with spectators going to Beach Volleyball at Horse Guards Parade.
- The Piccadilly and District lines will also be very busy with spectators heading to and from Earls Court and Wimbledon. If possible, you should consider re-timing your journey to avoid busy times.
- London Bridge National Rail Station will be very busy, especially in the morning and evening peak.
Roads
How will roads be affected today?
- As part of the preparation for the Cycle Time Trial a technical rehearsal needs to take place. A group of officials and team staff will travel around the race route in a police convoy, leaving Hampton Court at 10am and returning no later than midday. This will mean the closure of roads and junctions for no more than 20 minutes as the convoy passes. This will mean some short term localised disruption. Parking will be suspended along the Cycle Time Trial route.
- The road network in London is expected to be exceptionally busy today with the ORN serving venues across London.
- As well as serving central London venues, the ORN will be serving venues in Wembley, Wimbledon, Greenwich, ExCeL, the Olympic Park? and the Royal Artillery Barracks.
- The ORN will also be operation from central London to Lee Valley, Eton Dorney, and Weymouth.
- Central London is expected to be very busy throughout the day with spectators going to the Beach Volleyball at Horse Guard Parade.
- Avoid driving into central London or near to Game venues throughout the Games period. Roads in London, particularly inside the north circular and south circular are affected by temporary road restrictions. If you need to drive, expect significant delays and leave plenty of time for your journey. Consider re-timing your journey to less busy periods such as very early in the morning or very late in the evening.
- Congestion is being seen on key roads into central London, including the A3, A40, A12, A13 and A2.
- Avoid driving in London unless your journey is essential. The ORN is now in operation and being enforced from 6am to midnight.
- Roads where the ORN is in operation are expected to be exceptionally busy, where possible avoid driving along the route.
- Games Lanes will operate flexibly. Drivers should check the roadside electronic signs. They are open to normal traffic whenever they say “All traffic use Games Lane”.
- Don?t get caught if you drive or park in an operational Games Lane you risk a ?130 fine or having your vehicle removed.
