Bieber fever strikes Athletes? Village

Following success at London 2012, some Olympians have risen fast through the ranks of celebrity to attract serious attention from a roster of A-listers, as evidenced by their profile on the Olympic Athletes? Hub.

On hearing that US swimmer Missy Franklin was a fan of his, pop star Justin Bieber tweeted: ?now im a fan of hers too. CONGRATS on winning GOLD! #muchlove?

17-year-old Franklin rose to fame with victory in the 100m backstroke on Monday. With a serious case of ?Bieber fever?, she responded to the star: ?I just died! Thankyou!?

Bieber also sent his support to Canadian gymnast Dominique Pegg, said to be a long-serving ?Belieber?. ?want to let you know as a proud canadian Im always supporting you and proud of you. STAND UP CANADA!? he tweeted.

Having achieved a best ever fifth place for Canada in the team artistic gymnastics final, Pegg responded: ?Thank you for teaching me to never give up on my dreams! #lookatusnow! #believe!?

British diver Tom Daley has attracted similar support from the music world, with singer Cheryl Cole declaring: ?I think you are amazing! Will you teach me how to swan dive??

Louis Tomlinson of boyband One Direction offered his words of encouragement, tweeting: ?mate, best of luck for the individual. I’ll be watching !!?

Elsewhere, Indian shooter Gagan Narang received messages of support from top cricketers and Bollywood actors after securing India?s first medal of the Games ? a bronze in the men?s 10m air rifle.
