In the period from January to July 2012, the number of passengers carried rose by 4.4 percent compared to previous year?s figure: 6,555,800 passengers flew with Austrian Airlines. The load factor rose by 3 percentage points to 75.7 percent. The capacity measured in available seat kilometres (ASK) was reduced by 0.5 percent. The figure for revenue passenger kilometres (RPK) rose by 3.7 percent.
In July 2012, Austrian Airlines carried 1,114,500 passengers, which is 5.6 percent less than in July last year. The capacity (ASK) was reduced by 10.6 percent, caused by the sale of four mid range aircraft (Boeing 737). The average passenger load factor rose to 85.1 percent, which is 3 percentage points over the figure for the same month last year. The figure for revenue passenger kilometres (RPK) fell by 7.4 percent.
Austrian Airlines CCO Karsten Benz: ?We consciously reduced capacity and increased our productivity in July. We found a ready market for our flight program. I am pleased that we clearly improved our passenger load factor: For example, it exceeds 90 percent on the North America routes.?
Europe
In July 2012, 851,300 passengers flew with Austrian Airlines within Europe. This are 3.5 percent less passengers than last year. The load factor grew by 4.8 percentage points to 83.1 percent.
In the period from January to July 2012, 5,255,400 passengers flew with Austrian Airlines within Europe. This is 6 percent more than last year. The load factor rose by 2.8 percentage points to 72.9 percent.
Intercontinental
In July 2012, the number of passengers carried on intercontinental flights fell by 9.5 percent to 156,400. The load factor, which is 86.5 percent, was 1.4 percentage points over the figure of the previous year.
Austrian Airlines carried 954,500 passengers in the period from January to July 2012, or 0.6 percent more than last year despite the difficult market environment (crisis in the Middle East). The load factor rose by 3.6 percentage points to 78.1 percent.
Charter
In July 2012, passenger volume stood at 106,900 which is 15 percent less than previous year. The load factor rose by 3.7 percentage points to 87.2 percent.
In the period from January to July 2012, Austrian Airlines carried 345,900 passengers in the Charter segment. This figure is 6.6 percent less than last year. The load factor rose by 1.1 percentage points to 76.2 percent.
