Team GB’s best medal haul for over 100 years has been justly rewarded with a parade through the streets of the capital, reports freshbusinessthinking.com.
The Mayor of London Boris Johnson, in conjunction with the British Olympic Association and the British Paralympic Association, has confirmed that the Olympic and Paralympic athletes of Team GB are to be honoured with a parade.
Dubbed ‘Our Greatest Team’, the parade will begin at Mansion House and finish in central London. While no details are known about the route or the timings – other than the actual parade date of 10 September – it gives event venues the opportunity to carry on the patriotic celebration of Team GB’s athletes through decorations, special events and one-time offers.
Mayor of London Boris Johnson commented on the parade plans to london.gov.uk: “The men and women competing in this year’s Games are role models for our times, underlining the virtues of aspiration, hard work and commitment. Team GB’s medal haul has been outstanding and we can expect another magnificent showing during the Paralympic Games.
“The parade is our way of recognising the supreme achievements of Our Greatest Team, which I hope will inspire youngsters in London and up and down the country to take up sport, whether for fun, or with the ambition of competing at the highest level,” he added.
