With the fireworks of London 2012?s Closing Ceremony still fizzing in our minds, all eyes now turn to Nanjing 2014, which today celebrates two years to go until the second summer Youth Olympic Games in the ancient Chinese city.
With world class venues already in place and a city steeped in history and culture, young athletes around the globe are all training hard for this next stop on the Youth Olympic calendar! And after the performance we have just seen at London 2012 from the YOG alumni, the young athletes, who are all currently preparing in their 28 sports, are not short of inspiration and motivation to get to the Youth Olympic Games.
As Olympic champion and YOG graduate Chad le Clos said after winning his Olympic gold medal in the 200m butterfly and silver medal in the 100m butterfly in London: ?The Youth Games really helped me and they were a huge stepping stone. It was my first international meeting and if I had come to London [without the Youth Games experience] I would not have done nearly that well.”
So a huge ?Good Luck!? to all the young athletes aiming for the Youth Olympic Games! Nanjing can?t wait to welcome you all in 2014.
