The company plans to have 150 hotels across India by 2020.
Pascal Gauvin, Chief Operating Officer, India, Middle East and Africa, said, ?Having worked in some of the most promising and fast-paced growth markets in the world, Douglas brings invaluable experience. I have no doubt that Douglas is the right person to help fuel our business in this region and we?re delighted he has made this move to our Delhi office.?
Douglas joined IHG in 2001, and has since held various operational roles across Australia, Japan and Greater China. Most recently, he held the role of Vice President, Food & Beverage and Operations, for the company?s Greater China region, based in Shanghai.
Commenting on his new role, Douglas Martell said, ?South West Asia is an incredibly exciting place to be. There?s clear momentum behind the industry here, driven by a strong domestic market and a growing number of international travellers. I?m looking forward to leading the team as we shape IHG?s next phase in this market?.
