Classic Flagship Hotel returns to Scandic

Taking over Hilton Malm? City and expanding to five hotels in Malm? ?Classic flagship hotel returns to Scandic

The hotel that rises above the Triangeln shopping centre was actually Scandic?s flagship in Malm? at the start of the millennium, before Hilton took it over in 2002. Ten years later, Scandic has signed a new contract with the landlord Vasakronan to take over the hotel and return the Scandic sign to the top of Malm??s third tallest building.

Scandic currently has four hotels in Malm?: Scandic S:t J?rgen, Scandic Kramer, Scandic Segev?ng and Scandic Malm? City. Scandic Triangeln, old and new, is a landmark that most Malm? residents ? and visitors ? have seen and have a relationship with. It is a classic hotel that, after refurbishment, will provide an excellent complement to the rest of the Scandic family. It also has large rooms, an extensive range of high-capacity meeting rooms and a function suite, something that Scandic in Malm? lacks at the moment. Joakim Elveroth is General Manager at Scandic S:t J?rgen and District Manager of Scandic South:

?The hotel?s location is perfect and it feels incredibly exciting to be able to open its doors as a Scandic once the whole of the Triangeln redevelopment is completed in 2013. Proximity to good transport links and the city centre, with its great shopping, is a huge plus.?

Scandic will be fully refurbishing the hotel together with Vasakronan, starting in 2013. The rooms and public spaces will be of the highest quality, with accessibility and sustainability at the forefront. Guided by Accessibility Ambassador Magnus Berglund, Scandic works hard to ensure that everyone feels welcome, whether or not they have a disability. A number of the hotel rooms and the public spaces will thus be refurbished with this top of mind.

Hilton will leave the hotel on 31 December 2012, which is also the date that Scandic will take over operational responsibility. Scandic Triangeln will be made ready to receive guests as soon as possible in the New Year.

?I?m confident that the switch to Scandic will go smoothly. We?re taking over a well run hotel with a professional team, which gives us a real head start. I can?t wait to welcome both new and existing guests to Scandic Triangeln,? concludes Joakim Elveroth.
