Santa Cruz de Tenerife, October 4th 2012 – A wide representation of regional and island authorities, as well as the business sector of Canarias, gathered yesterday in the Compa??a Cervecera de Canarias factory in Santa Cruz de Tenerife to inaugurate its new Company Tour. With the Company Tour, the factory opens its doors to the public so they may learn about the production process of Dorada, one of its premier beer brands.

The aforementioned tour will be carried out in organised groups and is Compa??a Cervecera?s contribution to the leisure offerings of the Tenerife capital.

The first guided tour was attended by the Government Representative in Canarias, Mar?a Carmen Hernandez Bento; the President of the Town Council of Tenerife, Ricardo Melchior; the Deputy Secretary of Tourism, Ricardo Fern?ndez de la Puente; the Deputy Secretary from the Government of Canarias of Industry, Francisca Luengo; the Director General of Industry, Juan Antonio Le?n; the Secretary of Agriculture of the Town Council of Tenerife, Alberto Bernab?; the President of the Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Pedro Rodr?guez Zaragoza; the Director of Mejora del Espacio Tur?stico and Institutional Relations of Tourism of Tenerife, Ricardo Mart?nez, as well as the President and Vice-president of Asinca Tenerife, Andr?s Calvo and Mart?n Tabares de Nava. The representatives from Canarias on the Board of Directors of Compa??a Cervecera, Antonio Acea and Antonio Vega, were also present.

The CEO of Compa??a Cervecera, Mark Tindall, explained that ?one of the goals of this tour is to give Santa Cruz and the island an added point of attraction for visitors in the very near future.? He also pointed out that in order to do so ?we have put a lot of effort into the remodelling of this factory to start a programme of public tours that show the production process of our beer and the history of the factory and the Dorada brand.?

He pointed out that Compa??a Cervecera is part of the fabric of society and he wants to strengthen those links in order to drive economic growth and stimulate social development. For that, he added, he works towards generating returns for the company whilst creating wealth around it.

Tindall stressed that it is ?an initiative that we have prepared with lots of hard work and love? and he put special emphasis on the strong link that Cervecera de Canarias and its brand Dorada have had in the social, economical and cultural life of Santa Cruz and Tenerife during the 73 years of the company?s life. He added that they will continue to maintain this link, as is evident in the constant investment in its facilities and the continual innovation and renewal of its brands.

The Factory Tour started with the screening of a video that shows the history of the company and the brand from its origins in 1939. The video highlights the work and dedication that have marked the company?s career. Also, it includes a brief review of what the tour will encompass and the different parts of production.

Afterwards, tour attendees went to the brewhouse, where they could see the raw materials used in the production of beer: malt, yeast and hops.

The next meeting point was the packaging room, which includes the washing of bottles, the labelling, the pasteurising tunnel, the capping and the packing in boxes.

The culmination of the visit took place in the Bar-Museum, a place decorated with old cloth sacks in which the malt arrived in the first years of Dorada and which displays the most emblematic pieces of the brand. Of particular note are an exhibition of bottles from 1948, displays of the different labels used, as well as the medals and awards that Dorada has received throughout its history.

The visit ended with a tasting of Dorada beer.
