Last working day for us to prove ourselves worthy of winning the bursary and it went well. I enjoyed setting up the tables and serving the guests coffee. I learnt a few ways of setting tables for different events and had nice guest interaction. Later I served lunch to guests.?

I?m very sad that it?s my last day, I really enjoyed it and I feel I did everything to the best of my abilities. I’m really grateful for the opportunity I’ve been given to do this work this week at the Gateway Hotel and I look forward to see what the results turn out to be like?tomorrow. May the best man win!?

So today is the last day of the competition. I definitely am going to miss this amazing experience and I sure made a lot of memories here at boot camp. One thing I know for sure is that no matter where I go in the future, I will always use this hands-on experience from Gateway Hotel. This has not only been a journey, but a life changing experience and I absolutely loved every second of it.

TeambuildingToday I worked in HouseKeeping. I always thought that making beds and cleaning a hotel room is easy work, but today definitely proved me wrong. It?s not only about the cleaning of the room. It?s about meeting the guests? expectations and satisfying the guest. You want to make the room look 100%. I learned how to make a bed properly and how to fold towels to make them look attractive.

I don’t think people actually realise how much effort goes into preparing a room for a guest coming to stay at a hotel, but I must say I thoroughly enjoyed today! I definitely am walking away from this competition with a lot of experience. This has changed my life! I definitely am going to pursue my dream in the hospitality industry and hopefully one day I’ll come back to Gateway as one of their staff. I’m really upset that this week is over ? I really really enjoyed it and I got to gain the experience I’ve always wanted!?

One lucky Bursary Boot Camp contestant will soon find out how exciting a career in hospitality can be. Only one winner at the Durban campus can be chosen to have their full tuition fees paid for? up to R180?000! The pupil who succeeds in all of the challenges will take home the bursary and winning title. They?re counting down the hours now until the winner is announced…
