Hilton Worldwide has signed an agreement with SilverBirch Hotels & Resorts to build one new hotel and rebrand two additional hotels, ?including the first?Home2 Suites by Hilton?in Canada. The deal also brings the first?DoubleTree by Hilton?hotels to Edmonton and Regina. The announcement, which follows Hilton Worldwide’s recent news of the innovative first three-flag development in Calgary, underscores the company’s strong commitment to the region.
“The current conditions of Canada’s hospitality market give us a great opportunity to introduce the wide range of Hilton Worldwide development models, and offer owners the right product, at the right price and the right time,” said Craig Mance, senior vice president, North American development, Hilton Worldwide. “These new options also will provide guests with more choices to meet their individual needs.”
“We are excited to partner with Hilton Worldwide once again to introduce two globally recognized hotel brands, Home2 Suites by Hilton and DoubleTree by Hilton, to Edmonton and Regina,” said Steve Giblin, President and CEO of SilverBirch Hotels & Resorts. “These hotels will help meet the growing demand for quality accommodations in Edmonton and Regina as the tourism industry in these regions continues to expand.”
The new 123-suite Home2 Suites by Hilton West Edmonton and 238-room DoubleTree by Hilton West Edmonton will be located adjacent to each other at 109th Avenue NW in Edmonton, Alberta, a popular business travel destination.
Home2 Suites guests will have access to the brand’s mid-tier, extended-stay hotel concept designed to offer stylish accommodations, flexible guest room configurations and inspired amenities for cost-conscious travelers. Trademark brand amenities standard in all Home2 Suites properties include the Oasis lobby; the Home2 MKT for grab-and-go items; the award-winning Spin2 Cycle; the complimentary “Inspired Table” breakfast and Wi-Fi; and more.
The existing Mayfield Inn & Suites will undergo a renovation to re-launch as the DoubleTree by Hilton West Edmonton. The Regina Inn Hotel and Conference Center, located at 1975 Broad St., will also undergo renovations before it reopens as the 235-room DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel & Conference Centre Regina. From the color palette to the antique furnishing with a modern twist, the designs for these hotels will be driven by each city’s unique history and culture. The multi-million dollar renovations will include completely updated guestrooms and innovative and inspiring SilverBirch Conference Centres with fully equipped meeting and boardrooms providing the latest in conferencing technology and meeting amenities.
Guests staying at the DoubleTree by Hilton hotels in Edmonton and Regina will benefit from the characteristic qualities found at the brand’s more than 310 DoubleTree by Hilton locations in 23 countries, including the signature welcome with the legendary warm chocolate chip cookie presented to every guest at check-in, an array of upscale amenities and guest services, and a unique and caring team member commitment to the local community.
The new-build Home2 Suites property represents the expansion of SilverBirch’s extended-stay portfolio, which includes a Homewood Suites by Hilton currently under construction in Halifax. The DoubleTree by Hilton portion of the agreement marks SilverBirch’s entry into the brand. ?The DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel & Conference Centre Regina is scheduled to open in the fall 2013, the DoubleTree by Hilton West Edmonton in early 2014 and the Home2Suites by Hilton West Edmonton in the summer of 2014. The three properties will offer the rewards of the?Hilton HHonors?guest loyalty program.
