23 November 2012, Macau – StarWorld Hotel has especially organized a series of fun-filled activities for its team members to celebrate the hotel’s 6th Anniversary this year. In addition to the “The Body Painting Competition” and “StarWorld SuperChef Competition” held earlier, the “StarWorld Stairs Climbing Competition” took place yesterday as the finale of the celebration trilogy.
The “StarWorld Stairs Climbing Competition” attracted over 120 participants and hundreds of staff gathered on-site to cheer for their team members. In addition to the “Men’s Single Race”, “Women’s Single Race” and “Department Race”, a category titled “STAR Race” was newly created to encourage department heads to lead their team members to complete this challenging race together. This was also designed to further build the team spirit and harmonious relationships among them.
The races were officiated and kicked off by Ms. Eileen Lui, Director of Human Resources and Administration of Galaxy Entertainment Group, and Mr. Gabriel Hunterton, Chief Operating Officer of StarWorld Hotel. As they sounded the air horn, a group of high-spirited athletes stormed up the stairs from the ground floor to the 36th floor of StarWorld Hotel.
Repeating last year’s victory, Mr. Lu Yu from the Food & Beverage Department won his second consecutive Championship at “Men’s Single Race” with a time of 5 minutes and 47 seconds. There was exciting competition in the “Women’s Single Race” and only seconds of difference between the place-getters. The Champion, Ms. Zhou Jia Chan from Housekeeping Department, earned her title with a time of 8 minutes and 42 seconds. The “Department Race” championship was won by the Table Game team of Mr. Wong Ka Meng, Mr. Tang Chan U and Mr. Chan Lek Lei who finished with the record of 4 minutes and 34 seconds. Last but not least, the Championship of “STAR Race” was again won by the Table Game team. Led by its supervisor, Mr. Hoi Lek Man, the team consisted of Mr. Zhuo Jian Xing, Mr. Chan Wai Fong and Mr. Chong Wai Meng and won with an amazing time of 3 minutes 48 seconds.

In addition to “StarWorld Stairs Climbing Competition”, the hotel also organized the maiden “Body Painting Competition” in April. Prior to this event, every participant was provided a chance to learn the body painting technique through a workshop. Working together as a team, they could express their unique creativity within the context of body art. Furthermore, the celebration carried on with the “StarWorld SuperChef Competition” held in September this year. Using specified ingredients, the participants were encouraged to showcase their innovative cooking technique within a limited time frame. The event strengthened the cooperativeness between staff members and the team spirit.
