I am pleased to invite you to a workshop on voluntary country of origin labelling for food sold in the hospitality sector, to be held in Nobel House, Defra?s London headquarters, on Monday the 21st of January. This has been rescheduled from earlier this year.

David Heath, Minister of State for Agriculture and Food will be attending, and we will be discussing ways in which we can improve the amount of origin information available to the consumer in the catering environment. We will be looking to see where there might be barriers to the uptake of the labelling principles and potential solutions to overcome these.

We will also be presenting and taking questions on the new Food Information for Consumers regulation and allergen labelling for loose foods, as we know these are of key interest to the industry.

We are in the process of finalising a list of top speakers from industry and government, and will share an agenda shortly.

I hope you will be able to attend the event and I would appreciate your RSVP as soon as possible but by the 15th December 2012. We will be accepting requests to attend on a first come, first served basis, so an early response would be helpful. Please RSVP or direct any questions to [email protected] with ?Country of Origin workshop? in the subject line.
