The Rezidor Hotel Group, awarded as one of the World?s Most Ethical Companies, and a member of the Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, actively participates in tomorrow?s Earth Hour: At 8:30 pm, almost 250 hotels of the brands Park Inn by Radisson, Radisson Blu and Hotel Missoni across Europe, the Middle East and Africa will turn off their non-essential lights and other electrical appliances for one hour to raise awareness of the need to take action on climate change.
Joining households and businesses across 152 countries worldwide the Rezidor properties use Earth Hour (www.earthhour.org) ? an environmental initiative supported by World Wildlife Fund ? as an opportunity to engage guests, employees and business partners by organizing tastings and dinners in the dark, hosting awareness talks and speeches, painting competitions and much more.
Several properties like the Park Inn by Radisson Stuttgart/Germany combine their Earth Hour participation with another good cause by offering special menus and donating parts of the revenue to World Childhood Foundation and other charity organizations: The Radisson Blu Hotel Lucerne/Switzerland for example donates CHF 10 per menu to WWF. In Denmark, the Radisson Blu Hotel Silkeborg serves dinner in the dark and hands out information about Earth Hour and a candle for their room to arriving guests. The Park Inn by Radisson Brussels Midi/Belgium challenges all guests to refrain from housekeeping services for one day to save water.
Also Rezidor?s corporate Responsible Business team commits to Earth Hour and participates in the ?I will if you will? campaign of WWF ? all team members dye their hair green for a day and serve a healthy breakfast. ?Rezidor takes Earth Hour seriously. Our hotels and their staff are very motivated to participate in this global energy saving campaign. It is exciting to engage guests in energy savings in an original and fun manner. The Earth Hour message aligns perfectly with Think Planet, Rezidor?s ambitious energy saving initiative targeting a 25% consumption reduction in 5 years?, said Inge Huijbrechts, Vice President Responsible Business at Rezidor.
