Hanoi welcomes eight new hotels this year, with the aim of attracting 16.7 million visitors in 2015.
The new hotels – mostly managed by international operators – will add 1,400 new rooms to Hanoi?s hospitality industry this year, according to research conducted by Savills Vietnam.
The study also revealed that investors will reduce the number of new hotel rooms in 2014 and 2015.
?After 2015, the number of new hotel rooms in Hanoi will increase again,? Savills Vietnam head of research and consultancy Do Thu Hang said.
Hanoi?s municipal authorities hope to attract 16.7 million tourists in 2015, an increase of 16 percent compared to 2012.
The number of international tourist arrivals to Hanoi is forecast at 2.5 million in 2015, 3.2 million in 2020 and 4.5 million in 2030.
Ho Chi Minh City has added three new hotels in the first quarter of 2013, providing 300 new rooms.
