LAS VEGAS,?May 13, 2013? — Steve Zanella has been promoted to President and Chief Operating Officer of MGM Grand Detroit. Zanella had served as General Manager since 2010.
“Steve has shown great leadership in and throughout our organization,” said George P. Corchis, Jr., President and Chief Operating Officer of Regional Operations for MGM Resorts International (NYSE:MGM). “Coming from the MGM Grand in?Las Vegas?to be General Manager of MGM Grand in?Detroit?in 2010, Steve has been responsible for the day-to-day operations of one of the most dynamic resorts in the region, and in our company,” Corchis added.
With his new title, Zanella’s responsibilities have been expanded beyond overseeing all resort operations to include guiding the future strategic direction of the property. He will continue to report to Corchis.
Zanella previously held the position of Senior Vice President of Marketing for MGM Grand Las Vegas. A veteran of the hospitality industry, he joined the company in 1991 as a participant in a hands-on training curriculum for college graduates, and advanced in the company through Finance, Marketing and Gaming leadership positions.
Zanella earned his bachelor’s degree in Hotel Administration from the?University of Nevada, Las Vegas?where he graduated with high honors, and is earning a Masters in Business Administration at the?University of Michigan’sStephen M. Ross School?of Business.
