The “Resorts World”, located close to Manila’s international airport, will be expanded by two large hotels.37 new first class and luxury hotels with more than 11,000 rooms will open their doors within the next year. The “Travellers International Hotel Group” will invest into these two major projects in Manila. Besides the existing Maxim Tower and the Marriott hotel, a property by the hotel brand Sheraton as well as a Hilton hotel should arise at the “Resorts World Manila”. The number of rooms should increase so far from 1,226 existing rooms to 3,400 during the next five years.
The second project will be a new casino resort complex, the “Resorts World Bayshore”. 2,500 hotel rooms as well as a range of leisure, gambling and entertainment facilities are planed until 2016. So far the Solaire Resort and the Casino Manila with a total of 500 rooms by Bloomberry are the most advanced projects. Another project comprises three hotels with more than 2,000 rooms, the Manila Bay Resort. This project will be realized by the subsidiary of the Japanese Universal Entertainment and should also be completed in 2014. All four major projects are located inside the “Bagong Nayong Pilpino Entertainment City”, a raised area at the Manila bay.
The expansion of the international tourism at the Philippines relies on congresses and medical spa treatments. The objective is to increase the number of foreign visitors to twelve million per year by 2016. As comparison: about 25 million foreign guests arrive in Thailand every year.
