Cliveden House, in Berkshire, England Appoints Michelin-starred Andr? Garrett as Executive Chef

August 16, 2013?- Cliveden House, the beloved English country house hotel and spa in Berkshire, has appointed Michelin-starred Andr? Garrett as its new Executive Chef, starting in October. Garrett’s appointment coincides with the opening of Cliveden’s new restaurant (name still to come), replacing its existing Terrace Restaurant. Garrett joins after serving as Head Chef at Galvin at Windows Restaurant & Bar in London, where he was awarded his first Michelin star in 2010. The new restaurant will overlook the famous grounds of the National Trust property and place the property firmly back in the culinary heartland of England.

Andrew Stembridge, Managing Director of Cliveden House and its sister property Chewton Glen, said: “Our goal has always been to reestablish this iconic property as one of the very best hotels outside of London. Andr?’s appointment is a perfect match for our gastronomic aspirations.”

Commenting on his appointment Andr? Garrett said: “Ever since I was a young man starting out in this amazing trade, Cliveden was ‘the place to be’ outside of London. As soon as I visited, I knew that I wanted to be a part of this new era. I am really excited to be joining the team, launching the new restaurant, and placing Cliveden firmly back on the gastronomic map.”

The addition of the new restaurant complements the recent unveiling of the property’s completely renovated Spring Cottage, site of the infamous political scandal, the Profumo Affair, which is celebrating its 50th Anniversary.
