New York (Sept. 5, 2013)?- Marriott International reinforces its presence in Central America with the appointment of Dennis Whitelaw as both the Country Manager responsible for all managed properties in Costa Rica and General Manager for Costa Rica Marriott Hotel San Jose. Dennis is an award-winning leader with more than 32 years of hospitality experience with Marriott International.
“Dennis’ past and present successes with our brand and his strength in connecting travelers to new destinations will heighten the brand’s presence in Central America, further establishing us among Costa Rica’s most celebrated accommodations” said Kevin Schwab, area vice president for Caribbean and Latin America Marriott Hotels.
In his role as Country Manager, Dennis oversees Costa Rica Marriott Hotel San Jose, Los Suenos Marriott Ocean & Golf Resort, Courtyard San Jose Airport Alajuela, Courtyard San Jose Escazu and Residence Inn San Jose Escazu. His responsibilities encompass but are not limited to managing strategic marketing efforts, sustaining sales and property operations, and coordinating human resource activities. Additionally, Dennis will serve as the General Manager for Costa Rica Marriott Hotel San Jose.
Marriott International has commissioned Dennis’ expertise for more than 32 years, most recently with positions held south of the U.S. border such as General Manager of Marriott CasaMagna Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa; General Manager of Marriott Guatemala City, Guatemala; and Director of Sales and Marketing for Marriott International, Mexico D.F. Despite his flurry of international experience, Dennis’ roots in Marriott International began at domestic properties throughout Georgia, New Jersey, and Florida.
Dennis’ achievements range from being elected the City Council of Puerto Vallarta’s Tourism Leader of the Year to serving as the President of the American Chamber of Commerce of Guatemala. Through his past commitment to establish Marriott CasaMagna Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa as the destination’s most celebrated resort, Dennis claimed a variety of accolades for the property including Trip Advisor’s “Best Luxury” property in Puerto Vallarta, Arthur Frommer’s Budget Travel “World’s Best Values” and Cond? Nast Traveler’s “World Best 100 hotels” among others.
