The?American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute?(EI) has established a?Global Academic Partner?(GAP) agreement with?Human Capital Hotel & Tourism Training Institute?(HCHTTI), an academic institution established in Mombasa, Kenya, in January 2013 to provide short- and long-term training programs in hospitality and tourism.
Under the direction of David Kimanthi, CHT, the institute prepares students for hospitality and tourism training careers in East Africa. The school is strategically affiliated to Human Capital Experts Limited, a leading consultancy firm in recruitment, capacity building and hospitality management. Because Human Capital Experts offers recruitment services, students who graduate from HCHTTI have increased opportunities for employment through the company?s network of local and international clients.
Kimanthi explained that the school?s vision is to enhance skills and develop right attitudes in human capital working?in the hospitality and tourism industry. The goal is to become one of the leading hospitality institutes in East Africa, offering degrees and diploma certificates in hospitality and tourism courses. ?He intends to visit Kenya?s Cabinet Secretary in the Ministry of Education to discuss introducing a hospitality curriculum in secondary schools. He also wants to work with hospitality and tourism investors to promote the presence of the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute in Kenya.
“The country will have a major impact from the presence of the Educational Institute. Hospitality professionals will no longer worry about how to get certified, and hotels will no longer be concerned about the shortage in skilled manpower, or how to ensure customer service,”?Kimanthi said.
