The Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati is generating more than $1 million a month in economic impact downtown beyond its gambling activity.
The impact disclosed to The Enquirer is above and beyond the average $19 million in monthly gambling revenue and $6.3 million worth of gambling taxes that benefit local governments and schools. It also doesn?t include the $4.5 million in monthly payroll to the casino?s 1,700 workers.
?We wanted to be a game-changer downtown and we?re off to a great start,? said general manager Kevin Kline. ?We feel we?ve had a great impact and the momentum will continue to move forward.?
The casino opened March 4.
During the first six months of operation, the casino has generated 23,000 hotel stays worth about $3 million; the casino has bought $800,000 worth food and beverage from local suppliers; and comped $42,000 worth of off-site meals from partnered restaurants.
Also during the first six months, the casino sold $1.5 million worth of concert tickets; spent $415,000 on local sponsorships and charitable donations; and hosted 185 meetings or events attracting 65,000 guests.
The casino has attracted a total of 2.7 million guests during the first half year of operations or a monthly average of 450,000. The casino did not disclose year-to-date gambling revenue. Those figures through August will be disclosed by regulators on Monday.
