Montie Brewer, the former President & CEO of Air Canada, was newly appointed to the Board of Directors of Swiss International Air Lines Ltd. today. He succeeds Stefan Lauer, who, following his departure from the Lufthansa Group, has also relinquished his seat on the SWISS Board of Directors.
Montie Brewer, who served as the President & CEO of Air Canada from 2005 to 2009, was newly appointed to the SWISS Board of Directors today. He will assume his new duties in October. Mr. Brewer succeeds Stefan Lauer, who announced this summer that he would be relinquishing his SWISS Board seat.
Mr. Brewer, who is 56, joined Air Canada in 2002, initially as Executive Vice President Commercial. Under his leadership, the carrier evolved into an industry innovator in the pricing, sales, distribution and inflight product fields. Prior to this, Montie Brewer had been serving as Senior Vice President Planning at United Airlines, with responsibility for revenue and planning functions.
Mr. Brewer has also held senior positions at Northwest Airlines, Republic Airlines, Braniff and Trans World Airlines. He has planned and developed over 20 hub operations worldwide, and successfully restructured the route networks of three major carriers. While at United Airlines, he also acted as a key negotiator in the establishment of Star Alliance.

In addition to his new SWISS Board mandate, Montie Brewer further serves on the boards of directors of Allegiant Travel Company and Aer Lingus.

The further members of the SWISS Board of Directors are Jacques Aigrain, Christoph Franz and Monika Ribar. Chairman of the Board is Bruno Gehrig. The post of Deputy Chairman, previously held by Stefan Lauer, will now be occupied by Christoph Franz.
