Destination Hotels & Resorts announces the appointment of Marie Torres as Vice President of Marketing and Branding. In this role, Torres is responsible for overseeing all corporate marketing communications, including public relations, e-commerce, social media and customer relationship management platforms. Through her leadership, Torres will develop and drive a strategy to optimize market positioning and clarify the Destination Hotels & Resorts value proposition to the investor and consumer.
Prior to joining Destination Hotels & Resorts, Torres served as Senior Director of Marketing at Hyatt Hotels Corporation, where she managed and developed a $15 million brand marketing and promotional program for Hyatt resorts in the Americas targeting consumers and the travel industry segment. Previously, Torres held tenure at Starwood Hotels & Resorts, where she served as Director of Brand Marketing for Westin Hotels & Resorts and The Luxury Collection and led the marketing campaign that launched the hotel industry?s famous Westin Heavenly Bed?. She also worked as a Senior Director of Brand Marketing for Denihan Hospitality overseeing Affinia Hotels, The James, The Benjamin and The Surrey hotels. Before Torres migrated to the hospitality industry in 2000, she specialized in consumer brands, serving as the Director of Marketing for L?Oreal USA overseeing the haircare division, where she spearheaded the launch of the number one selling hair color brand F?ria. Previously, Torres worked in account management in the advertising industry for McCann Erickson Worldwide and as a marketing consultant for Faith Popcorn?s BrainReserve, a marketing firm based in New York with clients that included BMW, Nabisco, Pepsico, MetLife, Ralston-Purina and ConAgra.

Torres holds a Master of Business Administration from University of Virginia – Darden School of Business and a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Syracuse University. She retains a Six Sigma Black Belt certification and is an active member of the American Marketing Association, Promotion Marketing Association and Advertising Club of New York.
