Rim Hospitality names New Area General Manager for Oakland Marriott Hotels

Rim Hospitality has announced the addition of a new area general manager who will oversee the?Oakland?Convention Center and two Marriott properties in the?Oakland?area.

Lisa Kershner, a?San Francisco?native, took the lead at the Oakland Marriott City Center, Courtyard Oakland Downtown andOakland?Convention Center on?Nov. 18, 2013. She most recently managed The Lodge at Sonoma Renaissance Resort & Spa, a Marriott corporate hotel. Previous stints as the general manager of the Renaissance San Francisco Stanford Court Hotel and interim executive director of the Hotel Council of?San Francisco?solidify her passion for the hospitality industry in the?San Francisco/Oakland?area. Prior to Kershner joining the Marriott family in 2012, she was regional vice president of hotel operations and area director of operations for Kimpton Hotels from 2000 to 2011.

“I am so excited to be a part of Rim Hospitality and the multiple Marriott properties near my hometown,” Kershner said. “Oaklandhas so much to offer, and I’m looking forward to working with the talented staff at these hotels in the?San Francisco Bay Area?to help raise the standard of hospitality for our guests and go beyond their expectations.”

Collaboration and teamwork are the keys to a top-notch staff, according to Kershner. In each of her previous jobs, the first-generation Asian-American has focused on building and mentoring her teams to achieve the highest level of service and create long-lasting business relationships. Kershner has successfully guided properties through renovations and ownership changes throughout her career. Through her hard work and efforts, she was honored earlier this year by the San Francisco Business Times as one of the Bay Area’s Most Influential Women.

The new area general manager has a vision of building a better Bay Area and volunteers with the?Burlingame Community?for Education and Peninsula Humane Society. These organizations focus on giving back to the local community, something Kershner takes a lot of pride in doing. She also serves as a board member on SF Travel and plans to be very involved in theOakland?community.
