Dr Nasser Abdelal, consultant to the Minister of Tourism on Asian affairs, received a delegation from CEOs of Chinese tourism companies that operate in an area of China which is considered to be one of the biggest sources of travellers.

Abdelal confirmed the delegation visited Egypt to ensure that touristic destinations in Egypt are safe to visit and to analyse the security situation in Egypt, in order to reassure their clients in China.

He added that China lifted the travel ban to Egypt in September which was a sign of trust from a large country like China in Egypt?s ability to handle its democratic transition.

Abdelal listed the efforts the Ministry of Tourism has made to revive tourism to Egypt, adding that the current events taking place were local and internal and had little to do with tourism.

Both countries have been exploring ways to promote tourism and facilitate the exchange in the respective tourism sectors forward.

The spokesperson for the Chinese companies expressed his happiness to be in Cairo and referred to the important relationship between Egypt and China and the safety of Egypt as a touristic destination.

It is worth mentioning that Chinese tourists are among the most generous tourists in terms of spending in 2012, according to the World Tourism Organisation. In the same year 67,000 Chinese tourists visited Egypt.
