Sage Hospitality announces General Manager of the Westin Cleveland Downtown Hotel

Sage Hospitality, one of the top hotel management and investment companies in the U.S., is excited to announce the general manager of the new Westin Cleveland Downtown hotel, opening May 2014. Mark Anderson will be leading the hotel in operations and guest services after its $64 million renovation. Anderson started in his role on December 11, 2013 and has begun ramping up operations for the 484-room, contemporary, art-driven hotel.

“Sage is thrilled to have Mark lead us into the exciting Cleveland market,” said Vincent Piro, Divisional Vice President of Operations, Premier & Lifestyle for Sage Hospitality. “This hotel will bring modern luxury, local flavor and authentic service to
the Cleveland market, we look forward to its opening.”

Anderson has experience with Starwood Hotels & Resorts in both the Sheraton and Westin brands as well as Hilton Hotels. Most recently, he was the general manager for the 1053-room Boston Park Plaza Hotel and Towers. The Westin Cleveland Downtown is located near the Cleveland Convention Center and will require experience in a high-demand environment, which Anderson is suited for. He has served several boards including the CVB of Greater Boston and non-profit, buildOn.

The Westin will open in May 2014 and is located in Cleveland’s downtown financial district adjacent to the Cleveland Convention Center and Global Center for Health Innovation, just steps from Brown’s Stadium and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The hotel’s 20,000 square feet of meeting and event space can be divided into 20 separate rooms, including a 9,000 square foot Grand Ballroom. Adjacent to the hotel will be a modern farm to table steakhouse. Denver-based Sage Restaurant Group and restaurateur Peter Karpinski will introduce Urban Farmer ? Cleveland’s Steakhouse to the local community.

The hotel will feature artwork that draws on the region’s rich industrial heritage and Cleveland’s distinctive natural landscape to
create the exciting feel of reinvention. A unique experience has been created with the artwork in the Westin including two exterior installations that have been named to the City’s Landmark Commission.
