Montara Hospitality Group has appointed of veteran hotelier William (Bill) Black as the Group’s President.
A highly respected and familiar name in the hospitality industry, Mr. Black has over 30 years of experience in every facet of hotel management and development across Asia Pacific.
After having worked for the Regent and Four Seasons chains including the Bangkok property for 18 years, Mr. Black went on to form his own boutique hotel group which subsequently became the Singapore-based SilverNeedle Hospitality Group, where he served as President until his retirement last year. For the last eight years he has been an Executive Director of Montara Hospitality Group.
“I’m delighted to welcome such an innovative and experienced hotelier as Bill to head the Montara Hospitality Group,” said Narong Pattamasaevi, Chairman of Montara Hospitality Group. “He is a true hotel managers’ manager, and his comprehensive experience in Asia, especially in Southeast Asia, will contribute towards the strengthening and expansion of the Trisara brand and the Montara managed properties, initially in Thailand, and ultimately across Southeast Asia.”
Bill Black will be supported by yet another well respected hotel veteran – Anthony Lark, the Group’s Vice President for Business Development. An hotelier since a young age in his native Australia, Anthony joined the group in 2000; and co-developed and opened the luxurious Trisara.
Two other executives on Bill Black’s management team with vast international experiences are Antoine Melon and Marie-Laure Fleury.
Hailing from the famed gastronomic city of Lyon, France, Antoine joined Trisara in 2011 as Resort Manager, and after two years was promoted to General Manager when Anthony Lark took up responsibility of Montara Hospitality Group business development. Antoine had worked for Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong and Six Senses before joining Trisara.
Marie also joined the Group as Resort Manager at Trisara prior to her appointment as General Manager to oversee the re-development of the award-winning Boathouse on Kata Beach boutique resort in Phuket. Marie had left France to pursue a hotel career initially in Hong Kong with The Peninsula Group and later in Bangkok at The Sukhothai Hotel before joining Trisara as its Resort Manager.
“With such experienced and recognized hospitality and development professionals now on our executive management team, I am confident Montara Hospitality Group’s expansion plans to manage at least 10 properties by 2017 both under the Trisara brand and ‘by Montara’ label can be successfully accomplished,” added Narong.
Established in 1999, Montara Hospitality Group owns and manages the exclusive Trisara Phuket and the Boathouse on Kata Beach, which houses one of Phuket’s most celebrated wine and dine destinations, the Boathouse Wine & Grill Restaurant.
Trisara will mark its 10th anniversary, and Boathouse on Kata Beach its 25th, with a myriad of on-site events and activities throughout 2014.
