Christine Devers has been appointed General Manager of the Park Ridge Marriott, a Bergen County, NJ hotel. It was announced by David Marriott, COO – Americas Eastern Region and Bill Skoglund, Area Vice President, of Marriott International.
Ms. Devers began her career in the travel and hospitality industry as a summer intern at the Palisades Executive Conference Center. She joined Marriott in 1991 and over the years, has held various executive-level positions in Hotel Operations and Human Resources including as Director of Rooms Operations and Director of Human Resources at the Park Ridge Marriott, Multi-Property Director of Human Resources of several hotels in Northern New Jersey, including the Westchester Marriott and the Westchester Renaissance, and Assistant General Manager at the Westchester Renaissance. Most recently, she was Director of Operations at The Ritz-Carlton, Westchester.
With Ms. Devers assuming the role of general manager — only the second time a woman has held this position in the property’s history — it reinforces her commitment to female leadership in the hospitality industry. “I firmly believe in leading by example and acting as a role model for the leaders of the future,” notes Ms. Devers. Her combined experience in both hotel operations and human resources has given her an opportunity to inspire women in this traditionally male-oriented field, and she looks forward to working both on property and in the local community to mentor women for a career in hospitality. She also volunteers her time by coaching girls’ soccer and basketball.
The Park Ridge Marriott is set within a tranquil urban oasis in Bergen County, New Jersey. Visitors cross over a scenic bridge overlooking a natural stream with koi fish before arriving in the hotel’s lush, tree-filled setting. The hotel’s lobby has recently been renovated to become a multi-use Great Room, while other facilities include The Botanical Spa & Salon, indoor and outdoor pools, and the Park Ridge Marriott Health Club. The property also features 289 well-appointed guest rooms. For meetings and events, the property offers a total of 18,000 square feet of space and 19 meeting rooms, the largest being the 8,400-square-foot Grand Ballroom which can accommodate up to 1,350 people.
