Hyatt will open two more hotels under its Hyatt Place brand in Deira in the coming years, with area director John Beveridge saying the investment was in direct response to the call for more three and four-star ?select service? hotels.
The global hotel group on Monday announced the opening of the first Middle East hotel in its Hyatt Place portfolio in Al Rigga, Dubai.
The fourth Hyatt-branded hotel, in the Deira district of Dubai, is a 210-room offering targeting both business and leisure customers.
Beveridge said two more Hyatt Place offerings were under construction in Deira with ?about 1km between them? and it was committed to ?more of these properties in the northern emirates?.
?We?ve identified that there is a need for more inventory of that style in that part of Dubai,? he told Arabian Business at Hyatt?s stand at Arabian Travel Mart.
?Seeing the government?s investment in the area, what?s happening with the dhow wharfage and the whole resurgence surrounding the creek area and Al Rais it?s very exciting.?
Asked if it was unusual to have three hotels from the same company under the same brand in such close proximity Beveridge said: ?This is Dubai, there?s nothing unusual?.
?In Dubai, it?s such a vibrant, exciting marketplace for all hoteliers, everybody in our hospitality industry and if there?s rules Dubai knows how to change the perception of how we do things. So, we don?t think it?s too many, we?re committed to having probably even more of these properties in the northern emirates.?
Launched in 2006, the Hyatt Place brand comprises 195 properties, including recent openings in Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, India, Mexico, Armenia, and The Netherlands, as well as throughout the United States.
