After three years of profit, Hong Kong Disneyland is back in the red for the fiscal year ending October 2015 on the back of declining attendance.
Despite generating its second highest annual revenue of HK$5.114 billion in the 2015 fiscal year, Disneyland recorded a net loss of HK$148 million due to less mainland visitors and slowing retail sales.
Annual attendance reached 6.8 million, the third highest since its opening in 2005. But it was still down 9.3 percent from last year’s record-high 9.3 million visitors.
The theme park suffered from the 23 percent drop in the number of mainland visitors to 2.8 million, from 3.5 million. Mainland visitors accounted for 41 percent of total visitors.
