China leads the Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants awards with 13 establishments included in the 2016 list. Amber (No. 4) in Hong Kong reclaims the title of The Best Restaurant in China, from last year’s winner Ultraviolet (No. 7).
Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants, sponsored by S. Pellegrino & Acqua Panna, revealed the 2016 list at an awards ceremony at the W Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand.
Gaggan in Bangkok has claimed the top spot in the list of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants for a second consecutive year, retaining the coveted title of The Best Restaurant in Asia.
Shanghai-based chef Paul Pairet is the 2016 recipient of the Chefs’ Choice Award, voted by his peers, while his restaurants Ultraviolet and Mr & Mrs Bund rank No. 7 and No. 28 respectively. The other Shanghai entry, Fu He Hui, rises one place from 2015 to No. 18. Macau is represented by Robuchon Au Dôme (No. 35).
The 2016 list boasts nine Hong Kong restaurants, including longtime favourites Lung King Heen (No. 10), 8 ½ Otto E Mezzo Bombana (No. 13) and The Chairman (No. 27) as well as first-time entry Ta Vie (No. 48).
