Montreal, Canada – 6 September 2016
The Institut de tourisme et d’hôtellerie du Québec (ITHQ) and the Netherlands-based Hotelschool The Hague (HTH) have reached a major agreement to allow graduates from the Hautes Études en gestion hôtelière internationale/Advanced Studies in International Hotel Management (ASIHM), a bilingual ITHQ signature program, to continue their studies at HTH to get an MBA in International Hospitality Management. This joint program will accelerate students’ advanced education, as they can complete these programs—both of which include school and industry co-op placements—in just three years.

The Honourable Liza Frulla, PC, OQ, and General Director of the ITHQ, stressed how this partnership is beneficial not only for both schools but for the hotel industry as well. “Thanks to university-level recognition from HTH, one of the world’s largest hospitality business schools, this agreement helps cement the ITHQ’s position as an international leader in hospitality education. With their MBA’s in hand, our future graduates will become leaders in an industry that, more than ever, needs highly qualified managers,” stated Ms. Frulla.

This agreement came about through the ITHQ and HTH’s shared values, such as a desire to provide unique education of the highest quality. Both institutions are members of the Hotel Schools of Distinction, an exclusive alliance of the world’s top 10 hospitality schools that are dedicated to developing talented candidates and conducting research in the hospitality industry.

The ITHQ is the only hospitality school in Canada that offers the bilingual ASIHM program, which was developed in partnership with many Canadian and international hotel chains. This program is for students who want to become managers in the international hotel industry. In addition to learning the essential concepts of hotel operations management, students develop their skills in communication, creativity, innovation and leadership in a multicultural workplace.

With two campuses in The Hague and Amsterdam, Hotelschool The Hague (HTH) was founded and funded in 1929 by the hospitality industry. Since its foundation, HTH has become an international hospitality business school that specializes in hospitality management and offers programs such as the MBA in International Hospitality Management, which focuses on innovation and business development in the hospitality industry. HTH is consistently ranked among the top 5 hospitality management schools in the world.

Since 1968, the ITHQ has been Canada’s centre of excellence for education in tourism, hotel and restaurant services. The only hospitality school in the country to offer enriched secondary, CEGEP and university programs, the ITHQ has built its reputation on the excellence of its education, which was developed to meet the highest industry standards. Innovative training, a 4-star teaching hotel, 2 teaching restaurants, a gastronomy research centre, a skills development centre, and a strong network of contacts make the ITHQ the top choice for educating highly qualified staff who know what it takes to be the best.
