Bethesda, Maryland – 15 December 2016
Gobal hospitality leader Marriott International was named by Great Place to Work and Fortune to the 2016 50 Best Workplaces for Parents, ranking No. 31 on the list. The ranking is based on anonymous employee feedback from more than 120,000 working parents at U.S. companies across a range of industries, as well as on the benefits the companies offer that help parents participate fully in their organizations.
This is the inaugural ranking of Best Workplaces for Parents by Great Place to Work. Working parents and their colleagues answered 58 questions about the reality of their day-to-day workplace experience including organization-wide support for work-life balance, the quality of benefits, the fairness of opportunities for professional development and advancement, and their overall assessment of the quality of their workplace. Marriott excelled in parents’ assessment of the company’s fairness, camaraderie, professional opportunities and other factors essential to developing a rewarding career.
“Family comes first has been part of our culture since Marriott was founded in 1927,” said David Rodriguez, executive vice president and global chief human resources officer. “We are proud to be recognized for our efforts to create a family-friendly workplace that offers flexible options for our associates to help support their commitments at home. That’s why we offer paid parental leave, financial assistance for adoption, infertility coverage, progressive healthcare benefits, and flexible scheduling options. This recognition from Great Place to Work and Fortune affirms that we are on the right path.”
“Supportive colleagues, trusting managers and equal opportunity for advancement: The strengths of The Best Workplaces for Parents benefit all of their employees,” said Michael C. Bush, CEO of Great Place to Work. “The culture of professional respect at these companies is especially valuable for mothers and fathers as they meet the simultaneous challenges of work and family life.”
